GARDEN GIRL

I know, I am posting alittle early for Show and Tell Friday but..... our youngest daughter is expecting, any day now. So....if you miss me, it will be because I am lovin on that new grandbaby!

Now, first up for Show and Tell Friday is my "garden girl". I ran across the little flowered overall dress a few years back and have had it all this time just waiting till I made her for a garden. I love it...but....I had a hard time getting use to her being there. Everytime I caught her out of the corner of my eye, it startled me! Thought somebody was standing there(I live in the country which even made it alittle more unsettling) I will share more pics of her later as that bed fills in and is worthy~~~lol.

I am always taking pictures around the yard and snapped this shot of the honeysuckles. You can almost smell their sweet fragrance. I love them.....takes me back to when I was a little girl. Our porch was enclosed in honeysuckle and the fragrance filled the air..........along with bees and wasps!! lol

We have a pretty park here that I took a picture of and a cute pair of ducks that always run to greet you! Look at that little tuft of hair -no...I guess it would be tuft of feathers on his head. I thought that was unusual.

Last but not least are these cute Zonkeys, nose to nose. I believe they were having a standoff....for a cute little female nearby. (Zonkeys are a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey--they are quite pricey little animals!)
Oh my....I just noticed after already posting that my pictures were all supposed to be from my home or garden. Please forgive sorry about that!
Hope you enjoyed a little of my this and that on Show and Tell Friday over at Cindy's My Romantic Home . Be sure and check out all the other great posts.
I would love to hear from you. Have a wonderful day~~~~~~Lisha

OREO COWS ??

I am home from a wonderful visit and I thought I would share just a few road trip pictures that I took on my way back.
Check out those cows! Nicknamed oreo cows; at least here in Texas. These were along the highway on a ranch near Hico. I wish I had been in a position to get better pictures. Another name for them is a Beltie. They are actually a cross between Black Galloways and Dutch Belteds. Oreo cows.... they make me smile!

Check out the size of that Rocking Chair, actually made from wood. The Western Furniture Mercantile is between Stephenville, Tx and Interstate 20. It is a really neat place filled with western items, and also has barbecue.
Loved this old classic car....what do you think?? Be sure and check out more Outdoor Wednesday posts at A Southern Daydreamer.

Thanks so much for stopping in~~~~~~Lisha

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

This large Live Oak was the perfect place to hang my swing! Please scroll down for more of my Outdoor Wednesday post.....

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

Time for Outdoor Wednesday again over at A Southern Daydreamer. I thought I would share some pictures of my red lilies that just started blooming, my outdoor swing, and pictures of my mother's raised flower-bed. Mom recently moved down here to Texas and lives here on our place with us. We made raised flower-beds last year (our soil is a clay soil) which have done really well this year. Even though we made them a little on the shallow side, and even after a hard winter, everything looks beautiful. If we decide to do another, we will make it deeper. I am thinking this would be good for my vegetables also. Thanks so much for stopping in and I would love to hear from you. Be sure and check out all the other great posts on A Southern Daydreamer.

SERVING PEDESTALS

Hi, today I am participating in Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home. I stopped in at my favorite consignment store the other day and found this sweet metal tissue box holder with handpainting and openwork around the bottom. I also got this heavy glass pedestal. I plan on gluing a plate to the top----and add it to my collection of pedestal servers. There is something about pedestal cake plates that I cannot seem to resist. I have about 8 of them, including a couple of small ones I have made myself. What works really well for making the small servers, are the cheese servers with the glass dome. These you can pick up for little of nothing at thrift stores--along with candleholders. The candleholders in my picture, reminded me of MacKenzie Childs style. What do you think? Just glue your plate(dessert plates work well) to the candleholder, add the dome and wha..la..! There are great combinations out there once you start looking.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and visit the other great Show and Tell posts~~~~~~Lisha

Rest in Peace and Beauty

I am participating in Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Daydreamer. Be sure and check out all the great outdoor posts.

I thought this was a breathtaking sight. A dear friend of mine was traveling and came across this little country cemetery and had the foresight to get pictures for me. Hats off to Nancy!! The flowers are our Texas State Flower, Texas Bluebonnets(Lupine). I have about a two acre pasture that I am thinking about seeding with bluebonnets---it would be a good addition to my bluebird trail.

Thanks for stopping in~~Lisha

Buffalo

A local ranch was surprised recently with the birth of two baby buffalo. Seems they had the two females and one male buffalo for quite some time and had given up hope of them having any offspring. Surprise!! Forgive the pics as they were not in a very good location and I was very hesitant to get too close as they were snorting a warning--that was good enough for me! To think they once roamed the plains by the thousands and they could hear them coming miles and miles away.

I AM BLOOMING.....

Remember the "what is it flower"? Well here it is blooming. It is Nigella or as it is better known, "Love in a Mist". It is not a real common flower in the garden, but a very interesting one. Once you get it established, it will reseed easily. Hope you give it a try. Well, I have had my coffee this morning and now it is time to get outside. I have two plumbago's that need to be planted and I just cant decide where I want them---love plumbago. It is supposed to be in the 90's today so the sooner I get my outside work done, the better.

Have a nice day~~~Lisha

IRIS BLOOMING

As you know, I am new to blogging and I am going to try to participate in
Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Daydreamer. Hopefully I have done everything right! If you click on the title of this post, you will return to Outdoor Wednesday. Please let me know if there is something I need to do differently.....and how??!!LOL Thanks

My Iris are blooming and are beautiful so I am sharing pictures with you. Some of the closeups are of hybrids. The ones in the rows are all the old fashioned iris. You know, I dont think I appreciated the beauty of irises when I was younger. I didnt give them enough credit! Hope you enjoy these hardy performers!
