VISITING WITH A FRIEND

This morning just a short little post....Friday I stopped by a friend's house and had the nicest visit. Just what I needed!! You know those times...a time that just renews your spirit...lifts you up and makes you feel good! We share so much in common.......thank you for a great visit!

She raises miniature ponies and I had not seen the new babies yet...oh my gosh...they are so cute! One little tiny black one would get your attention by rubbing and leaning against your leg..reminded me of my cat. He might be as tall as to my knee! I realized I didn't have my camera so I will have to get pictures later to share with you. I would so love to have a miniature...my husband has already told me we do not need one........I am hoping he will change his mind. Soon I will post pictures of her miniatures. For the time being....the pic below is a stand-in--my neighbors pony who thinks he belongs to me!!

DRESS UP YOUR DOOR OR WALL.....FOR FALL

I have news....we are expecting another grandbaby, due in June! Too early yet to know if it will be a boy or girl~~when I had my girls, you had to wait till they were born to know...that's a long wait!!

Okay.....on with the show! It's that time....time to usher in fall! What better way to start than with an autumn wreath on your door.

From Better Homes and Garden-This is a pretty fab wreath!!!! I think this and the swag are my favorites.

This one can be found here.

A Country Living wreath.....

Pretty neat idea from Better Homes and Garden...take out the acorn top and replace it with a faux pearl dabbed with glue. That is what they did on the wreath that follows.

This is a beautiful traditional style wreath from HGTV that you can make and the directions are included. How bout that???
Which was your favorite? Hope you are inspired to decorate your door or wall...for fall! Please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you~~~~Lisha

Materials and Tools:

18-inch grapevine wreath base
3 or more large pinecones
3-5 faux artichokes
various faux pine sprigs
faux magnolia leaves
faux berries
faux seeded eucalyptus bush
hot glue and glue sticks
florist wire
wire snips
autumnal-colored ribbon
moss

Steps:

1. Start by securing the artichokes and pinecones to the wreath with florist wire or hot glue.

2. Fill in with pine sprigs and magnolia leaves, attaching them with wire or hot glue, placing them around the wreath at various lengths and angles. Tip: Don't forget to also cover the wreath's sides.

3. Next, snip small sections of eucalyptus and berry sprigs and attach them to the wreath with hot glue wherever you need additional texture or pops of color.

4. Cover any empty spaces, visible glue or stems with moss pieces attached with hot glue.

5. Finally, loop ribbon around wreath top and secure with a bow.

DECORATED PUMPKINS

Ready or not, fall is just around the corner(even though it is still in the 90's here) and I have been seeing pumpkins at the Farmer's Market.

I thought you might enjoy seeing some ideas for decorating them. These are the ones I ran across that I liked..........which is your favorite??

These are from Country Living and they also have the template for the bug.

I have had this picture of these pumpkins, for a long time. I believe they were from Martha Stewart projects. Cute huh??

These fancy ones with all the bling, come from Better Homes and Garden.

I believe these last three pictures are from the HGTV. Templates for Halloween Decor can be found here. (I really liked the crow)

I thought these were quite clever......you use double sided tape and roll them in the different beans.

A friend told me that she saw directions for some that had the large flat-backed "rhinestones" glued to them. I think that would be cute placed in a ring around the middle and on another, use smaller bling bling and do the same---alittle variety!! Hope you enjoyed and I would love to hear from you.......Lisha

A FUN TIME SHOPPING IN A SMALL TOWN

I wanted to share with you another really unique shop in Graham, Tx. Graham is quite close to Possum Kingdom Lake, Northwest of Fort Worth and south of Wichita Falls, Tx. Should you be traveling through there, be sure you make a point to stop at J. Dolittle & Co. and enjoy shopping and visiting with the owner, Vicki Milam. Dolittle's is a shop that showcases local artists work, and also carries a line of linen clothing and ladies handbags. It is a small shop with big impact! Enjoy.........

(I like the corrugated tin ceiling)

(Love the brick walls)

(I like this old cabinet with all the drawers. It would make a nice jewelry cabinet. If you had it, what would you use it for??)

I am participating in Outdoor Wednesday at A Southern Daydreamer. Stop in there and check out all the great posts. Thanks~~~~Lisha

A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP

The city of Graham is a great place to sight see and shop. It is alittle over an hours drive northwest of Fort Worth, Tx. It is known for its large town square. Graham has great places to shop around the square and in the downtown area. Nearby is Possum Kingdom lake which is a large resort lake. There are also some other neat old towns around which makes it a nice sight seeing area. It even has a drive-in theatre. You dont see those much anymore. If you go to Graham, be sure and stop at "The Vogue". It is a furniture and decor consignment with lots of great stuff!! The owner, Cathy, is a very sweet lady and will give you a warm welcome! She arranges everything in showroom style which takes talent to put together an appealing presentation of so many different pieces. Here is a peek at a few of the things...........

I think this metal vanity is so...cute! Very unique

I can picture this little love-seat, painted white with linen upholstery.

Cute little rattan folding chairs, there is a pair. And great little wicker rocker for a porch!!

I like this pillar used for display.
Hope you enjoyed, be sure and check out all the other great posts at Outdoor Wednesday!

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

You know how sometimes time just gets away from you? That is how this past week has been for me.

I am participating in Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Daydreamer.
Be sure and check out all the great posts there.

We have grapevines and last year I learned to drastically prune them so that they produce. This year we got lots and lots of rain which meant lots and lots of grapes. I have baskets full and not quite sure what to do with them. I think I will cook them down and freeze the juice for right now till I figure out exactly where to go from here. I could make jelly, I just finished doing that with the wild plums. I had hoped my son-in-law would want to try his hand at making wine!!

A LITTLE OF THIS AND THAT

Back at mom's, the hardy hibiscus is blooming and is so
beautiful--the blooms only last a short time but new ones are continually opening.

Shasta Daisies are one of my favorite plants. They make wonderful cut flowers that last for a long time. The more you cut, the more new blooms you will have.

Look what I found while taking pictures of the flowers! A cute little tree frog... I don't think he could have blended with the bird bath any better! It is just a coincidence as he does not change color as far as I know. He was still the same color on a flower pot he jumped to.

Well, I am off to the flea market to see what I can find. I will hopefully have some pictures of my treasures for you next week. Have a great weekend~~~Lisha
