OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

You know how sometimes time just gets away from you? That is how this past week has been for me.

I am participating in Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Daydreamer.

We have grapevines and last year I learned to drastically prune them so that they produce. This year we got lots and lots of rain which meant lots and lots of grapes. I have baskets full and not quite sure what to do with them. I think I will cook them down and freeze the juice for right now till I figure out exactly where to go from here. I could make jelly, I just finished doing that with the wild plums. I had hoped my son-in-law would want to try his hand at making wine!!

A LITTLE OF THIS AND THAT

Back at mom's, the hardy hibiscus is blooming and is so

beautiful--the blooms only last a short time but new ones are continually opening.

Shasta Daisies are one of my favorite plants. They make wonderful cut flowers that last for a long time. The more you cut, the more new blooms you will have.

Look what I found while taking pictures of the flowers! A cute little tree frog... I don't think he could have blended with the bird bath any better! It is just a coincidence as he does not change color as far as I know. He was still the same color on a flower pot he jumped to.

Well, I am off to the flea market to see what I can find. I will hopefully have some pictures of my treasures for you next week. Have a great weekend~~~Lisha

HANGING BEDS

I love the look of hanging beds--especially on a porch! Hhmmm.... I am not sure which one of these is my favorite one but......



I think that I have picked out three, well maybe four, and this is one.......

I can almost feel what it would be like to wake up in the morning here! UMmm.....nice (think this is the third)

And, here is the forth and not necessarily in that order. This looks so cool and breezy.....I could curl up with one of my favorite magazines, Coastal Living which is where I found this one.

A couple of years ago, we relocated, bought a farm house in the country and we are really enjoying it. We have alot of things we want to accomplish but it will take awhile. One...is to remodel the front entrance, which is where our screened- in porch is. We would like to enlarge it but in the meantime...I am enjoying it none-the-less. This is one side of it and this is the bed I have on it. I found a matching set of retro twin beds a while back with original custom coverlet, that matches the upholstered box spring base. May seem alittle odd for a country farmhouse, but I go back and forth between this look, and covering it completely up and doing a cottage makeover. Guess I just cannot make up my mind...oh well. Variety is the spice of life!!
I have never been one to keep things one particular way for very long. I am always changing something out or moving things around. In fact..... could it be converted into a hanging bed???Take everything else out on that side of the porch and hang it in the middle!

Hope you have a nice week...I will. I will have one of my granddaughters this week and the others will be coming this weekend...Yeah........!!!!!

Help.....for some reason I have not been able to leave comments on some blogs I have visited. I wonder if it is a blogger problem?! I have done all that I know to do on my end. Have you had this problem?? I have read that if you change your blog comment setting, to pop up window, it will take care of this problem~ don't know. Friends and followers who leave me comments, I will keep trying as I try to visit all, and I appreciate you so much!

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

I am sharing with you some pictures I have taken, that I thought you might like. I have never taken the time to find out what type butterfly this was on my pentas, but isn't it beautiful?




This little guy was on my porch playing around and I could not resist getting a close-up!









This little swallow raised two families under our porch eave~~if you have ever had these around, you know how determined they are!!

These guys love red ants!! They are so prehistoric looking. When I was a little girl, my grandmother would catch them and we would put them to sleep by turning them over and rubbing their neck and stomach. I believe they are actually on our Texas Endangered Species list. I know you cannot transport them across the state line. Probably all the pesticides have threatened their existance....sad.....

And lastly, this little nest that I found in my small plum tree-only about 7 feet tall and probably 2 and a half feet wide. I was able to look right into the nest-mom flew off temporarily. Not sure what type bird; I think some sort of wren though. I have stayed away since, so not to disturb her. The eggs are just about the size of the end of your finger--teeny tiny!!

SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

I want to share with you something I found at one of my favorite consignment shops. It is a letter holder with two little drawers on the ends, and......one of my favorite colors! I snatched it right up and was excited to get it home. Cute huh??




Well.....I had another idea for it other than it's intended purpose........
This is what I did with it! The little cubbies were the perfect size!

KITCHENS

I love browsing through magazines and online looking at decorating ideas. I came across these kitchens here, and thought you might also enjoy looking at them. Sometimes it may just be something so small that catches my eye, that I can add to my home~~maybe a different style wicker basket with herbs potted up, a linen shade, an old enamel bucket for fresh flowers, a bamboo blind or maybe the light airy look of a maidenhair fern. Love it when something inspires me! Have you found something lately that you added to your decor, or something that inspired you?

I love light, airy style kitchens, but on the other hand, I love warm cozy old world style kitchens. So....I guess I would have to say my perfect kitchen would be a combination of light colored cabinets and countertops but with old world style. What kind of kitchen do you like?

While I am on the road I always take my camera and I enjoy taking pictures of courthouses. Above are pictures of Coryell County Courthouse in Gatesville, Texas. It was completed in 1898 and is constructed of native limestone and Pecos Sandstone. It is an outstanding example of Second Empire Victorian Style. Built by Wesley Clark Dodson, it was a change from his usual style. Coryell County Courthouse is listed on The National Register of Historicplaces. You can read more about it here.

This courthouse is one of my favorites, not just for the style but the color also. This is Hill County Courthouse in Hillsboro, Texas. It was also designed by W.C. Dobson. It was a merging of Second Empire, Classical Revival, and Italianate features-it was quite controversial at the time-strong likes and dislikes. But in the end, were proud of their courthouse. The three story structure is made of limestone and has a tower in the middle that rises seven stories. In 1993 the courthouse caught fire and much was destroyed. Since there were no blueprints, the restoration architects looked at Granbury's 1890 courthouse which was also designed by Dobson, and interviewed those who worked at the courthouse and decided how the "new" courthouse would look. More can be read abot it here. It was rebuilt to its original splendor. I think it is a beautiful building!

SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

I am back(mother and baby doing well) just in time to get in on Show and Tell Friday at Cindy's, My Romantic Home.

I thought I would share this cute little iron window box that I mounted on our well-house (pump house).

My Asian Lilies are blooming. Aren't they beautiful! The other picture is a close-up of my Plumbago blossoms.

Old bottles that you can pick up for a few dollars at Flea Markets and Antique Malls, make nice little "vases" for flowers. I just put one or two in each bottle, and group them. Also, use an antique or vintage bottle for your room diffusers! Much more attractive than the common bottles they come in.

SHE IS HERE

My new little grand-daughter is here! She was born on June 1st, weighing 6 lbs and 8 ounces--a little darling! She is alittle jaundice. We are praying that will clear up shortly. I will be staying for a little while to help out. I dont know if I will get the opportunity to post anything else while here as I am busy, busy, busy--three year old "big sister" keeps me hoppin! GARDEN GIRL

I know, I am posting alittle early for Show and Tell Friday but..... our youngest daughter is expecting, any day now. So....if you miss me, it will be because I am lovin on that new grandbaby!

Now, first up for Show and Tell Friday is my "garden girl". I ran across the little flowered overall dress a few years back and have had it all this time just waiting till I made her for a garden. I love it...but....I had a hard time getting use to her being there. Everytime I caught her out of the corner of my eye, it startled me! Thought somebody was standing there(I live in the country which even made it alittle more unsettling) I will share more pics of her later as that bed fills in and is worthy~~~lol.

I am always taking pictures around the yard and snapped this shot of the honeysuckles. You can almost smell their sweet fragrance. I love them.....takes me back to when I was a little girl. Our porch was enclosed in honeysuckle and the fragrance filled the air..........along with bees and wasps!! lol

We have a pretty park here that I took a picture of and a cute pair of ducks that always run to greet you! Look at that little tuft of hair -no...I guess it would be tuft of feathers on his head. I thought that was unusual.

Last but not least are these cute Zonkeys, nose to nose. I believe they were having a standoff....for a cute little female nearby. (Zonkeys are a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey--they are quite pricey little animals!)
Oh my....I just noticed after already posting that my pictures were all supposed to be from my home or garden. Please forgive sorry about that!
